Ubergizmo

Tesla has confirmed a dedicated launch event in September to officially unveil the Cybercab, its purpose-built, fully autonomous robotaxi. The presentation will take place in Austin, Texas, showcasing a two-seater electric vehicle designed to operate without a steering wheel or pedals, accelerating the company’s autonomous ride-hailing network across the United States.

The private gathering, titled the Cybercab Launch Event, is scheduled for September 3 and will be broadcast live via Tesla’s official communication channels.

Engineered strictly for driverless mobility, the vehicle’s minimalist cabin configuration significantly reduces curb mass:

Initial commercial services will launch in Austin, operating directly through Tesla’s existing ride-hailing application. The platform allows users to request on-demand passenger transport seamlessly from their mobile devices.

While current active testing remains focused in Texas and Florida with a supervised fleet of 20 to 30 units, the automaker has secured key regulatory clearances to broaden its regional footprint.

Tesla recently received commercial authorization from the Nevada transportation authority to deploy up to 5,000 autonomous vehicles in the Las Vegas metropolitan area, marking a significant transition from supervised pilot programs toward high-volume commercial robotaxi fleets.
